CINCINNATI — The Blanchester duo of Lilly Tedrick and Erin Wilson won the second doubles draw in the G Flight Saturday in the Greater Cincinnati Tennis Coaches Association Fall Classic.

The Wilson-Tedrick pairing led Blanchester to a third place finish in the tournament.

“They played great tournament,” BHS coach Matt Sexton. “It is fun to watch them get better with every match they play.”

Taylor was the top team followed by Little Miami and Blanchester. Goshen was fourth, Deer Park fifth, Roger Bacon sixth, Finneytown seventh and Glen Este eighth.

Wilson and Tedrick defeated Lawson and Deuer of Goshen 6-2, 7-5 in the championship match.

Sarah Ujlakyová was runnerup in the second singles bracket. She lost to Wanek of North Bend Taylor 6-3, 6-0 in the title match.

“She played some good competition and held her own,” said Sexton. “She has been a treat to have on our team this year and I’m so glad she was able to do well in this tournament.”

The doubles team of Emily Speakman and Heather O’Neill were 9-8(2) winners in the consolation match of the second doubles back draw and finished third.

Brooke Honaker was third in the first singles draw. She defeated Weber of Deer Park 8-1 in the consolation match of the back draw.

“It was impressive to see Brooke Honaker and the team of Emily Speakman and Heather O’Neill battle back for third,” said Sexton. “It is very easy once you drop in the back draw to just pack it in. They all battled to come back.

“Overall, we played well. It came down to two or three head-to-head matchups that Little Miami and Taylor got the better of us in, otherwise we might have won it. Nevertheless, it was a very good weekend and I’m happy for my girls.”
