Little Miami blanked Wilmington 1-0 Saturday in a non-league boys soccer match on the LM pitch.

“Little Miami came out with great athletes and a determination to play the game the way they wanted to play it,” said WHS coach Imad El-Macharrafie. “We had our chances but really couldn’t find the space to get in to their box and score.”

The loss puts the Hurricane at 5-2-1 on the year.

On Thursday, Wilmington defeated McClain 3-2 in a South Central Ohio League match played in Greenfield.

Sam Spirk had the hat trick with three goals while three different players recorded assists — Adao Russo, Kaden Laufer and Charlie Schumacher.

“Greenfield was a much more athletic opponent this time around,” said El-Macharrafie. “Our resolve and heart were on display late in the second half. We were able defend to the end and put the ball in the back of the net when we needed it most to come away with the win.”

Wilmington is 5-1-1 against SCOL teams.
