Brooks earns academic honor at Ashland Univ.

Wilmington High School graduate Allison Brooks earned 2017 academic recognition Tuesday from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

A sophomore at Ashland University, Brooks was part of an Eagles women’s tennis team that posted a 3.60 grade point average, a mark that also earned academic recognition from the ITA.

In order to receive the award as an individual, an athlete must obtain a varsity letter, a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

Brooks is majoring in exercise science at Ashland.

The Eagles’ 2017 season begins 10 a.m. Sept. 9 against Walsh.

Brooks won two singles and three doubles matches at Ashland as a freshman.

The earned All-South Central Ohio League honors twice and was named All-Southwest Ohio Conference two times during her prep career at WHS. Her 85 career victories is the most in Lady Hurricane tennis history.

She is the daughter of Stephanie and Lyle Brooks
