Stover ends Davis’ reign as Elks club champion

Ending the four-year run of Randall Davis, Gary Stover won the 2017 Elks 797 Golf Club men’s club championship Sunday afternoon.

Stover defeated Jeremy McGraw 7 and 6 in the match play format championship match to win the crown.

Travis Jackson edged Davis 2 and 1 in the consolation match.

Dan Froehle won the men’s net championship while Keith Mason won the men’s senior club championship.

En route to the title, Stover posted wins over Jack Murphy, Doug Ledford and Jackson. McGraw notched wins over Michael Ledford, Brock Coatney and Davis on his road to the title match.

The championship is Stover’s first at the Elks. He won the 2015 club championship at Majestic Springs Golf Club.

Previous winners of the Elks club championship were Davis (2013-2016), Mike Williams (2012), Keith Hill (2007-20011), William Kruszka (2006), Hill (2003-05).

The men’s handicap club championship winners were Gary Vance (2015, 2010), Bob Malyuk (2009, 2014), Phil Richardson Jr. (2008), Tim Hill (2007), Jeff Hopkins (2006), Rob Gilbert (2005), Denny Stanton (2004), Tim Doak (2003).
