Ladycats sweep Lady Spartans in 3

BLANCHESTER — The Blanchester volleyball team defeated Waynesville 25-17, 25-19, 25-21 Wednesday in a non-league match at the BHS gym.

Coach Rebecca Doughman said the Ladycats played well on both offense and defense.

Kayla Dugger had eight kills and zero errors to lead Blanchester at the net. In all, BHS had 23 kills and only four errors. Dugger also had 11 assists, 13 points, two aces and seven digs.

Doughman said Asia Baldwin had a good game ‘hitting the ball like we’d never seen her do before.” Baldwin recorded four kills, four blocks, five points and four digs.

Allie Evans and Stephanie Gerlach played impressive defense, Doughman said. Evans had two kills, eight points and 15 digs while Gerlach contributed 14 digs. The combined for 10 perfect passes to the setter with just two errors, Doughman added.

Sarah Burton had four kills, three blocks, three points, an ace and two digs. Hannah Wisniewski had four kills, 12 assists, two blocks, 12 points, three aces and four digs. Shayla Sicurella had a kill, an assist, three points and six digs. Rachael Doyle had two kills, a block and a dig. Heather Hurtt had two digs.
