Junior Hailey Clayborn 18-6 last season at first singles, 8-4 in the SCOL, and runner-up in the Wilmington Invitational. She played 3 rounds in the D2 Sectional tournament and first team All-SCOL. Senior Anne Thompson 16-7 last season at second singles, 8-4 in SCOL, runner-up in the Wilmington Invitational, and 2nd team All-SCOL. Seniors Claire Carruthers and Hailey Stinchcomb are back for doubles play where they went 14-9 last season. Senior Megan Wonderly, 13-9 last season, also brings solid varsity experience.
Sophomores Nina Lazic and Raelee Schulz move up from the JV roster and expect to make important contributions.
KEY PLAYERS LOST
Morgan Edgar and Amber Winemiller, both to graduation
PREDICTED DIVISION FINISH
In the SBAAC, we expect to battle with New Richmond and Wilmington, because they are perennial powers with deep feeder programs. Although we see the new league opponents at sectionals, we don’t have much match history to base predictions.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO SAY ABOUT TEAM, SEASON
The girls have worked hard in the off-season and are off to a good start. Team chemistry and depth are better than we’ve seen in years. We’re excited to hit the courts and face new competition in the SBAAC.
