Loveland ousts WHS from state team tennis tournament

LOVELAND — The Wilmington High School girls tennis team dropped its opening round match to Loveland 5-0 Monday in the Ohio High School Tennis Coaches Association state tournament.

The Lady Tigers were ranked No. 7 among Division I schools in the Cincinnati area, WHS coach Doug Cooper said.

“They had state qualifiers on two courts and our girls never gave,” said Cooper. “They made plays that most nights end points. I saw a lot to be proud of against a very tough opponent.”

The loss puts the Lady Hurricane at 1-2 on the year. The match was delayed two hours by rain, Cooper added.

Emma Schroeder and Zane Bekheet dropped their first doubles match 1-6, 3-6.
