FELICITY — Led by Taylor McQuitty, the Blanchester High School girls soccer team opened its season Thursday with an 8-0 win over Felicity-Franklin in Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division action.

Blanchester goalkeeper Regan Ostermeier had two saves to earn the shutout as BHS gets off to a 1-0 start. The Ladycats had 34 shots.

McQuitty had three goals and three assists as the Blanchester offense was in high gear.

Emily Hinkle started the scoring 30 seconds into the match on a shot from 20 yards out. McQuitty assisted.

A McQuitty cross led to Tatum Kirby’s successful header and a 2-0 BHS lead, coach Kurt Ballinger said.

Sierra Drake took a Hinkle pass and made it 3-0 then McQuitty scored off a Sally Schafer through ball to make it 4-0 at halftime.

Drake and Kirby had a goal each in the second half while McQuitty added a pair. Kirby’s second goal came off a header, showing an aggressive style despite her diminutive stature, Ballinger said.

Olivia Gundler had an assist while Drake and Hinkle had two assists each.
