XENIA — Two late goals lifted the Wilmington High School girls soccer team to a 2-0 win over Legacy Christian Academy Thursday in a non-league match at the Athletes in Action Sports Complex.

Jasmine Jamiel scored in the 77th minute of the match then sister Katlyn Jamiel tallied an insurance goal in the match’s 80th minute.

Coach Kenny Ferrence said the first half for the Lady Hurricane was much the same as it was against Clinton-Massie.

“Still rushing,” he said.

In the second half, though, Wilmington settled into its game and started building from the back which “created more forward open space,” Ferrence said.

“This allowed us to play the through ball effectively resulting in two goals,” the coach added.

Claire Greenlees played well defensively for WHS while Petra Bray stepped into Katlyn Jamiel’s spot and played well. Jamiel was moved up to an offensive position to create more scoring chances. Autumn Housh displayed excellent ball skills and held off several opponents, Ferrence said.
