MARIEMONT — The Blanchester reserve football team was defeated by Mariemont 30-22 Saturday morning.

Blanchester trailed 22-14 at halftime but tied the game midway through the third quarter. The Warriors scored the winning points in the final three minutes of the game, BHS coach Brian Damewood said.

On the offensive side of the ball, Blanchester showed plenty of firepower, but found themselves plagued by several interceptions and lost fumbles, Damewood said.

Brody Rice and Carter Abbott connected three times for scores through the air. The pair notched scoring completions of 50 yards, 29 yards and a slick two-point conversion. Bryce Scalf scored on a 55-yard run.

Defensively, the young Wildcats turned in a solid performance for most of the game, but were haunted by big plays, said Damewood.

Johnny Schirmer notched an interception and tacked on a 10-yard return. Kyle Hopkins forced a fumble that was recovered by Andrew Frump late in the game. Frump also recorded two tackles for loss on the day. Gage Huston, Colt Conover and Scalf also recorded tackles for loss.
