MADEIRA – The Blanchester tennis team stepped up its non-conference schedule with a match Tuesday against Madeira. The Ladycats were defeated 5-0 in a match held at the Madeira Swim and Tennis Club.
“Madeira has a strong team and they play in a strong league,” said BHS coach Matt Sexton. “We knew this was going to be a step up in competition, and I think we handled it well. I think we played some of our best tennis of the season, top to bottom.
“Despite the score, I thought we got better by playing them, and that’s what it was for.”
Blanchester is 4-3 on the year while Madeira evens its record at 3-3.
Sexton said Erin Wilson played well against a returning district qualifier at first singles.
