Ladycats avenge ‘16 loss to Lady Rockets

OWENSVILLE – Avenging a loss from last season, Blanchester defeated Clermont Northeastern 3-2 Thursday in Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference tennis action.

Blanchester is now 6-3 overall but more importantly 4-0 in the division, which is good enough for a two-game lead, coach Matt Sexton said.

“Our girls had this match in mind ever since they beat us on those same courts last year,” Sexton said. “They wanted revenge. We played very well, probably our best of the season.”

Lilly Tedrick picked up a single win while both doubles teams came out on top.

“Lilly is playing outstanding tennis,” said Sexton. “When she serves like she did, she’s hard to beat. First doubles (Korie White, Alexis Vestal) overcame a slow start and really looked good in the second set. Grace (King) and Lydia (Falgner) have played well together in limited time, and for them to beat a pair of seniors was impressive.”
