Carter PK lifts Massie over BHS 2-1

BLANCHESTER – Kelsey Carter converted a penalty kick in the final minute of the match Thursday to lift Clinton-Massie to a 2-1 victory over Blanchester in a non-conference match at Barbour Memorial Field.

“Massie was awarded the penalty kick after a collision in the box, causing the ball to jostle loose from Blan keep Regan Ostermeier,” BHS head coach Kurt Ballinger said. “Officials deemed Ostermeier to have obstructed the path to the ball, leading to the decisive conversion.”

The win puts the Lady Falcons at 2-3 on the year. Blanchester drops to 1-4-1.

Blanchester took a 1-0 first half lead on a Tatum Kirby goal. Taylor McQuitty chipped the ball over the top of the CM defense and Kirby raced passed a defender to slip the ball by the CM keeper, Ballinger said.

Clinton-Massie tied the match in the second half on a goal by Emily Ireland with 19 minutes remaining.

Ostermeier finished with six saves in goal for BHS. Ballinger said Lana Roy and Savanna Shank played aggressive games for the Ladycats.
