BLANCHESTER – The Blanchester boys soccer team defeated Clinton-Massie 5-2 Thursday in their home opener at Barbour Memorial Field.

Blanchester coach Troy Ballinger said his squad maintained possession much of the match.

Early goals for the Wildcats were scored by Hunter Miller and Topher Farrow with assists to Noah Armocida and Nevan Coyle. BHS led 2-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Coyle netted two goals before the Falcons broke through to make it 4-1, Ballinger said. The Massie goal came on a penalty kick.

The final Blanchester goal started with a throw-in by Brant Bandow to Colton Wilson, who had just subbed into the match and scored his first career varsity goal.

Jake Fischer made four saves in goal for Blanchester.

Blanchester is now 3-3 on the year while Massie falls to 0-4.
