CINCINNATI – Blanchester’s Erin Wilson and Lilly Tedrick advanced to the finals of the first doubles bracket Thursday in the Greater Cincinnati Tennis Coaches Association Coaches Classic tournament.

The Ladycats posted wins over Little Miami, 6-0, 6-1, and Monroe, 6-3, 2-6, 10-8. They will meet Dollenmeyer and Howard from Hamilton in the bracket championship.

“Pairing Lilly and Erin together was something I gave them the choice to do,” BHS coach Matt Sexton said. “They pulled out an impressive win in the semifinals. Monroe has a strong team, top to bottom, as evidenced by them beating my normal first doubles with their second doubles.”

Alexis Vestal and Korie White won a match at second doubles but were then defeated in the second round.

The double elimination event will continue Saturday at Winton Woods High School.

“Pretty solid day all around,” Sexton said. “Today was part of preparing Kayla (Allen), Grace (King) and Lydia (Falgner) for 2018 and I thought they competed well.”

The tournament afforded Sexton the opportunity to coach against one of his former players. Seth Fair is the head coach at Middletown and played for Sexton while he was coaching the Clinton-Massie boys team.
