Wildcats JV squad falls short to Hurricane 28-20

The Blanchester reserve football team was defeated by Wilmington 28-20 Saturday at Barbour Memorial Field.

The Wildcats trailed 22-6 at halftime.

Coach Brian Damewood said the BHS defense “was active throughout the game.” Colt Conover caused two fumbles and Johnny Schirmer forced one. Lucas Thacker, Gage Huston and Gabe Peters all had fumble recoveries.

Brady Phillips had a tackle for loss while Conover and Seth Randolph had two each. Kadin Berwanger came up with his second interception of the year.

Conover, the BHS quarterback, completed three passes to Andrew Frump, including a 13-yard touchdown. They also hooked up on pass plays of 33 and 26 yards, Damewood said. Conover also completed passes to Hunter Bare for 26 yards and a 9-yard touchdown.

Blake Richard had a strong day rushing, Damewood added, while Peters picked up a pair of TD runs.
