The Wilmington High School girls soccer team was defeated by Lynchburg-Clay 3-0 Thursday night at Alumni Field.

The loss puts WHS at 4-5-2 on the year. The Lady Mustangs are 8-2 on the year and have won six consecutive matches.

“Lynchburg is a good team,” WHS head coach Kerry Lewis said. “They capitalized on a few mistakes.”

Lewis said the loss was “frustrating.”

“The girls played well and had many opportunities but we can’t finish around the goal,” he said. “If you’re gonna win soccer games, you have to score goals and we’re not doing that. It’s pretty simple.”
