WILMINGTON – Emma Schroeder and Brooklyn Nielsen improved to 18-2 with a win at first doubles but the Wilmington High School tennis team was defeated by Centerville 4-1 Tuesday in a non-league match on the WHS courts.

Nielsen and Schroeder were 6-2, 6-2 winners over Emma Estepp and Nikhi Menon.

“I really like the way doubles are playing now,” WHS coach Doug Cooper. “They just complement each other so well. They have the type of chemistry I have not seen since (then WHS seniors) Kourtney Johnson and Derricka Culberson went 18-3 in 2012.”

Nielsen and Schroeder, juniors who are the No. 4 seed in the upcoming sectional tournament, were unbeaten at 9-0 in SBAAC American Division action this season.

The only losses for the WHS duo are to teams from Kings and Beavercreek.
