District golf halted, players to return Monday

MIAMISBURG – Because of unplayable conditions, the Division II Southwest District golf tournament at Pipestone Golf Course was stopped Thursday and will be completed Monday.

“Miserable day,” Clinton-Massie head coach Brian Mudd said.

The tournament started Thursday morning in a steady, sometimes hard, rain. Mudd said his players completed no more than six holes in the event. The tournament is scheduled for 18 holes.

Players who qualified for the district event as an individual, instead of part of a team, did not play at all on Thursday, Mudd said.

Teams were at Pipestone for more than six hours. Play started and was stopped three times, Mudd added.

Mudd said play is expected to pick up where it left on Monday, rather than starting over with all players on the same day.
