Huffman sets record, ROB girls win SBAAC

MT. ORAB – A record setting performance by Sophie Huffman led Wilmington’s Rodger O. Borror Middle School to a first-place finish Saturday in the SBAAC Middle School Cross Country Championships at Western Brown High School.

Huffman clocked a 12:43.04 to tie the previous ROB mark of 12:43 set by Hali Hodge, who set the standard in 2005.

In the team standings, Borror had 39 points while Western Brown had 40 and New Richmond finished with 43 in a tight, three-team race.

Borror had three of the top nine runners with Taylor Noszka finishing fourth and Katie Murphy placing ninth.

Carah Antek was the top runner for East Clinton, placing sixth in 13:50.59.

Clinton-Massie and Blanchester did not have any runners in the girls race.

On the boys side, Van Frye of East Clinton led the locals by finishing eighth in 12:33.17.

Brett Bandow of Blanchester was ninth and Trevor Billingsley of Borror was 13th. Luke Lentine of Clinton-Massie was 14th.
