BLANCHESTER — With the seniors being honored for their “dedication to the program,” coach Troy Ballinger said, the Blanchester boys soccer team clinched the league title Thursday and set a school record in the process.

Blanchester defeated Georgetown 5-2 in a Southern Buckeye Conference National Division soccer match at Barbour Memorial Field.

The Wildcats are 8-0-1 in National Division action and the 11 overall wins is a single season record for BHS boys soccer, Ballinger said.

Blanchester has one league match remaining, a Tuesday visit by Williamsburg at Barbour Memorial Field. The seniors who will be playing on their home field in the regular season for the final time are Logan Swinderman, Dade Coyle, Daulton Stevens, Brendan Daugherty, Isaiah Stanforth, Bryce Minge, Christian Woodyard and Justin Casey.

Topher Farrow had a pair of goals for Blanchester. Swinderman, Stevens and Coyle had one goal each. Assists went to Daugherty, Minge, Coyle and Farrow.

BHS goalkeeper Dakota Penquite had eight saves and “nearly stopped both penalty kicks awarded to Georgetown,” said Ballinger.
