WC women fall to Heidelberg in finale 1-0

The Wilmington College women’s soccer team was defeated by Heidelberg 1-0 Saturday in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

The Quakers had 18 shots, 12 coming in the second half. But WC was unable to notch a goal and tie the match.

All but three Fightin’ Quaker field players were able to make their way to the goal and take a shot this afternoon. Sophomore Alex Vestal (Orlando, FL/Lake Nona) led the charge, taking a total of three shots, one of which was in frame.

Junior Kaitlin Evans (Leesburg, OH/Leesburg-Fairfield) and senior Mellonee Hall (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) both found room for two shots, both of which were on goal. Freshman Abby Spirk (Clayton, OH/Northmont) and junior Taylor Leake (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) were also able to muster two shots; however, only one of each of theirs found its way on frame. Freshman Sidney Avey (Clarksville, OH/Clinton-Massie) tallied two shots, as well, though neither were on frame.

Seniors Ashley Lovett (Washington Court House, OH/Washington Senior) and Haley Brausch (Clarskville, OH/Clinton-Massie), juniors Hannah Greaney (Dayton, OH/Carroll), and sophomores Haley Burge (Clarks Hill, IN/McCutcheon) and Taylor Thompson (Canal Winchester, OH/Canal Winchester) each tallied one shot on goal.
