Whether you are stuck inside because of weather or just want to play a course halfway across the world, the Elks Lodge 797 golf simulators can accommodate golfers of all interests.
Beginning Monday, two full-swing golf simulators will be open for booking tee times at the Elks Lodge 797 on Rombach Avenue.
“We can appeal to the non-serious golfer,” said Randall Davis, general manager. “With 56 golf courses to play from all around the world, we can appeal to the serious golfer. As accurate as our machines are, it’s about as close as you can get to outdoor golf.”
Davis said the simulators can be set-up for 18 holes of stroke play or specialized to 20 different games – such as breaking glass out of a building or making field goals – that make the simulators “perfect for the casual golfer just looking to have a good time with friends.”
Among the well-known courses Davis mentioned as being available are Pebble Beach and Firestone. “There are some links style courses, too,” he said.
Tee times must be made to play the simulators. Davis said tee times can be made on-line through the Elks Facebook page (The Elks #797). Tee times also can be made by calling the lodge at 382-2191. Rates are $25 for 18 holes for non-members of the Elks Lodge and $20 for 18 holes for Elks members.
In December, Davis added, the lodge will be forming leagues with the simulators. In the simulator room, there is a private bar which makes the simulators available to rent for parties or company events.
The lodge has leased simulators the past three years but now owns the new ones, Davis said.
He added the simulators were used for a private get-together on Saturday. One simulator was used to play golf while the other was used to show the Ohio State football game against Penn State.
Davis said it takes approximately one person one hour to play 18 holes, so a foursome could play a round in four hours.
The lodge is open 9 a.m. Mondays through Sundays and is expected to close at 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, at 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at approximately 9 p.m. on Sundays.
