Lady Falcons defense keys win over Lady Lions 46-33

NEW RICHMOND – Clinton-Massie held New Richmond to 22 percent shooting from the floor Thursday night in a 46-33 win in SBAAC American Division girls basketball action.

The Lady Lions were just 11 for 50 from the field as the Lady Falcons defense kept the pressure on throughout the game.

The win puts the Lady Falcons at 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the American Division. The Lady Lions drop to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Johanna Theetge led Massie with 17 points on 7 for 14 shooting. She also hauled in 14 rebounds and handed out four assists.

Theetge had the hot hand early, scoring six in the first quarter and five in the second, as Massie led 23-17 at halftime.

In the second half, Hannah Doss scored six in the third when the Lady Falcons built a 34-24 advantage.

Though they could never completely run away from New Richmond, the Lady Falcons had a comfortable margin in the final frame.

Massie had just two free throw attempts in the fourth quarter, despite holding the lead. For the game, the teams were a combined 10 for 18 at the line as just 18 fouls were whistled.
