NORTH COLLEGE HILL – Led by two weight-class champions, the East Clinton wrestling team finished second Saturday at the Everette Howard Memorial Invitational at North College Hill High School.
Brayden Esposito at 106 pounds and Austin Brock at 132 pounds both finished first as the Astros trailed only SBAAC rival Bethel-Tate in the tournament.
Both Esposito and Brock were 4-0 with four pins.
“The team did really well and I was very pleased with their performance at our first tournament of the season,” EC coach Doug Stehlin said. “It is a good day when everyone places and you put five guys in the finals for first (place).”
Josh Cline at 160 and John Cline at 170 were both runners-up as was DJ Perry at 182 pounds. Matt Horn was fourth at 138 pounds and Nathan Vest finished sixth at 195 pounds.
