Eagles deal Astros 30-24 loss in front of student body

LEES CREEK – In front of the entire student body, the East Clinton wrestling team lost a heartbreaker Friday to Madison-Plains 30-24.

”Most of the time, wrestlers only wrestle in front of family and close friends,” EC coach Doug Stehlin said. “This is a match that they will always remember.”

Brayden Esposito at 106 and Jon Cline at 170 won by pin for the Astros.

“Madison-Plains was a good team for us to host in this type of setting,” said Stehlin. “Their team is small just like us and we matched up well against each other. This was are second year hosting an in-school dual on the last day of school before Christmas break. I have to thank the administration for allowing us to do this and also thank the student body for being a great crowd; they really got into cheering for their classmates. Also would like to thank the basketball cheerleaders for leading the students in cheers and the band for providing music.”
