MASON — State-ranked Mason ended the Wilmington High School boys soccer season 9-0 Saturday in Div. I Sectional tournament action at MHS.
The Hurricane finishes the season with a 12-4-2 record, one of the best records in school history, coach Imad El-Macharrafie said.
“We are very fortunate to be in this position,” said El-Macharrafie. “Players, parents, staff and Wilmington fan base … the Hurricane family is a tight-knit group we are all proud to be part of. We couldn’t have done what we did all year without having their support and encouragement.”
El-Macharrafie said seniors Kaden Laufer, Hayden Straley and Pablo Russo provided “hard work, leadership and dedication to the WHS soccer program. You will be missed.”
Despite the season-ending loss, El-Macharrafie said, “All in all, this was a fun group to coach and watch play. Our core group is still very young so we have many more successful seasons upon us but there is still a lot of work to do in the off-season to prepare and reach the level of success we ultimately want to be at. Successful programs are run seven days a week, 365 days a year.”
