BLANCHESTER – The Blanchester baseball team was defeated by Fairfield High School of Leesburg 6-4 Saturday at Bott Field in non-league play.

The game was originally scheduled as part of a doubleheader at the Chillicothe Paints Stadium, however, it was moved to BHS for a single varsity game.

Blanchester is 7-5 on the year.

The Wildcats led 4-1 early but missed a couple of chances to extend the lead and put the Lions away. Those lost opportunities came back to haunt the ‘Cats as the Lions rallied for the win.

“We got too comfortable,” BHS coach Aaron Lawson said. “We had a couple of errors and mental errors in the field that led to runs. We played well enough to win but didn’t make the plays when we had to.”

Chris Farrow had a double and two runs batted in for BHS.

Brody Rice and Cole Ficke both had hits and RBI. Jacksson Waialae had a hit as well.
