Burnam wins OAC title in 400 hurdles, WC 8th

ADA – Pierce Burnam placed in five events, including a championship effort in the 400-meter hurdles, this weekend in the Ohio Athletic Conference Track and Field Championship meet.

Burnam won the 400 hurdles in 54.38 seconds. He was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (15.43 seconds) an fifth in the triple jump (12.83 meters).

Burnam teamed with AJ Hightower, Aaron Koch and Elliot Phillimore to finish fifth in the 4×400-meter relay (3:25.31). Burnam, Hightower, Koch and Adam Knaub finished sixth in the 4×100-meter relay (43.59 seconds).

As a team, Wilmington finished eighth in the meet.

Hightower also was fifth in the 100-meter dash (11.18) and ninth in the 200-meter dash (22.45). He finished 11th in the long jump (6.29 meters).

Kalvin Butts led the field events effort by finishing fourth in the hammer throw (53.73 meters). He also was fourth in the discus (46.33 meters).

Antone Truss was ninth in the triple jump (12.66 meters) and ninth in the long jump (6.44 meters). Joe Holcomb placed 10th in the shot put (14.14 meters).

The 4×800-meter relay team of Matt Baker, Josh Cyrus, Gage Clemens and Cameron Phelps finished seventh in 8:40.83.
