Hurricane tames Bulldogs 7-3

WILMINGTON – Three Wilmington pitchers combined to strike out 11 as the Hurricane defeated Batavia 7-3 Wednesday in SBAAC American Division baseball action at WHS.

Wilmington is now 10-5 overall and 6-4 in the American.

“We were able to get guys some innings on the mound,” WHS coach Dustin James said. “The pitching staff looked great. They walked only one. Very proud of our pitchers.”

Alex Meyer started and struck out three then Brett Bell fanned seven in three innings of relief. Stephen Krause closed out the win.

At the plate, Krause “hit a laser homerun to centerfield,” James said, to put WHS up 2-0 in the first. He then walked twice and picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Jake Vaughan had two hits, including a double. Jordan Tackett and Jason Wilson both had a hit and walk. Ben McAllister and Bell collected one hit each. McAllister, Wilson and Zack Eden all drove in runs for the Hurricane.
