WATA middle school tennis up 1-0, match halted by rain

News Journal

The Wilmington Area Tennis Association middle school tennis team led 1-0 Friday against Kings when rain forced the match to be stopped with four courts undecided.

The lone completed match was a Wilmington victory by Claire Burns at first singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

“I was proud of all my players,” coach Cathy Fay said. “They did not give up. Some were down a set and came back a set, or were winning in the second set.”
