GEORGETOWN – The Blanchester girls soccer team was defeated by Georgetown 3-0 Thursday night in SBAAC National Division play at Brian Grant Stadium.
Georgetown led 3-0 at halftime. Blanchester picked up the pace defensively in the second half and stymied the G-Men attack, coach Kurt Ballinger said.
Senior defenders Olivia Gundler and Sally Schafer played standout games, particularly in the second half, Ballinger added.
“They made repeated last-ditch interventions to keep out dangerous (Georgetown) attacks,” said Ballinger.
The BHS coach said Savanna Shank covered a lot of ground in the defensive midfield. Caitlyn Lakes had 14 saves in goal for Blanchester, now 2-4-1 on the year.
