NEW RICHMOND – The Clinton-Massie tennis team defeated New Richmond 4-1 Tuesday night in SBAAC American Division play.
Despite the win, Massie’s Hailey Clayborn suffered her first defeat of the season to Sophia Dragoo 3-6, 6-2, 5-7. The match finished under the lights at the New Richmond courts.
“Clayborn and Dragoo battled through deuce in every game of the third set,” CM coach Lynn Deatherage said. “It was an amazing night to watch Dragoo’s finesse battle Clayborn’s grit in a very evenly matched duel.”
The first singles match lasted four hours, Deatherage said, in hot, humid conditions.
The Lady Falcons are 10-3 overall and 5-3 in the American Division.
