WC volleyball drops match to Bluffton

WILMINGTON – Bluffton University hit a .328 attack percentage in a sweep (25-18, 25-17, 25-8) of the Wilmington College volleyball team on Wednesday evening.

Morgan Loomis led the Fightin Quakers with two blocks while Karley Schlensker posted 16 digs to lead the team.

Jillian Wesco and Taylor McCuistion topped the WC stat sheet in kills with six each.

Wilmington is 1-12 on the year. Bluffton is now 6-7.

The Blanchester seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams defeated Georgetown Tuesday in a pair of matches.

The eighth grade was victorious 25-21, 25-11 with Summer Schutte leading the way, nine kills, four aces, four assists and two perfect passes.

Ainsley Whitaker had five kills, six perfect passes, three assists and an ace. Emma Falgner had three aces, two kills and two perfect passes. Makayla Lanham finished with two aces, a block, three perfect passes and an assist.

Sarah Pell had a kill and an assist. Coach Amanda Benza said Mia Torres had two perfect passes and Josie Wilson had one perfect passes.

The seventh grade came out on to 25-22, 25-11.

Hope Blankenbeckler had 10 aces, three perfect passe and two assists. Kaylee Coyle contributed five aces, two kills and two blocks. Team captain Gracie Roy had a kill, two perfect passes, an assist and several crucial defensive saves, Benza said.

Lainey Dameron had six aces and Desiree Snader had five aces. Payton Johnson chipped in with two aces and a block. Annalee Miller-Steffen had three perfect passes. Cheyenne Reed had an ace and Abbey Irwin, Katie Haas and Gracyn Phillips all contributed defensively, coach Benza said.
