Lady Hurricane picks up win over Lady Rockets

WILMINGTON – In thrilling fashion, the Wilmington High School volleyball team defeated Clermont Northeastern in a non-league match Wednesday at Fred Summers Court, 15-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

After dropping the first set, the Lady Hurricane battled back to win the next three sets by three points or less.

“The pieces are finally falling into place,” WHS coach Jenna Persinger said. “The players are getting more comfortable in their roles and working together as a team.”

Harlie Bickett had four aces and 22 digs. Emily Self posted two aces and 13 digs. At the net, Emily Butcher and Self led with seven kills while Kathryn Hardin came in with five. Sami McCord and Ti Harris had four kills each. Logan Osborne and Lexi Evans had three digs each.

The junior varsity Lady Hurricane also were victorious, 25-18, 25-17.
