CINCINNATI – Blanchester’s doubles pairing of Maddy Coyle and Taylor Bradley won the second doubles bracket in Flight H Saturday at the Greater Cincinnati Tennis Coaches Association Coaches Classic at Colerain High School.

Coyle and Bradley were 6-0, 6-0 winners against the Fenwick team of Manning and Poland.

“Maddy and Taylor played three sets and dropped just one game,” said BHS coach Matt Sexton. “They were ready to go from the first point and really executed the game plan well.

“Thursday, we looked very much like a team playing for a third straight day in 90-degree heat, after an hour bus ride. It was a grind for the girls and it showed. After a day’s rest and with much cooler weather, we played very well (Saturday).”

Kayla Allen finished third at first singles, defeating Smith of Fenwick 8-6 in the consolation finale.

Elecia Patton and Annie Trovillo posted an 8-1 win in the consolation match at first doubles and finished third as well.

“It was great to see Kayla and the team of Elecia and Annie come back and get third,” said Sexton. “Kayla wrapped up a pretty good week going 3-1 at first singles against solid competition. First doubles really came out and took it right to their opponents. We didn’t give them any room to get comfortable.”

Lydia Falgner placed fourth in the second singles bracket after dropping an 8-4 match to Forse of Fenwick in the consolation final.

“She played well in the backdraw final, but the girl she played was a little too steady,” Sexton said.

Jill Richardson did not place at third singles but Sexton was pleased with her effort.

“Jill did really well for her first two varsity singles matches, hanging right in there in both matches,” the BHS coach said.
