Warix goal ignites Hurricane as Webber posts shutout 5-0

ADAMS TOWNSHIP – Four players scored five goals and Wilmington defeated Clinton-Massie 5-0 Tuesday in SBAAC American Division boys soccer action at Frank Irelan Field.

The Hurricane goes to 7-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the American Division with the victory.

“Massie is a much-improved team,” WHS coach Imad El-Macharrafie said. “We had to put forth our best performance in the first half to get the early lead.”

Freshman Avery Warix scored the only goal WHS goalkeeper Collin Webber would need in the shutout victory. Warix scored an unassisted goal in the 10th minute.

Webber then stopped four shots to post the shutout.

“We need to play a more complete game for all 80 minutes going forward in league play,” said El-Macharrafie.

Jacob Romer scored two goals – in the 15th minute assisted by Brady Vilvens then in the 21st minute assisted by Josh Vaughan.

After being up 3-0 at the half, WHS put the game away on goals by Graham Vilvens in the 53rd minute and Brady Vilvens i nthe 64th minute. Both goals were unassisted.
