Clinton-Massie’s Gabby Woods earned the Division II girls golf sectional championship Thursday at the Hamilton Elks Golf Club.

Woods blistered the soggy track with an 80, posting 39-41 on the par 72 layout.

Elsewhere, Blanchester’s Ashlin Benne was fifth at the Division II sectional at Xenia’s WGC Golf Course.

The Blanchester boys competed in the Division II sectional at Reid Park North and finished 14th overall.

In Hamilton, Woods won the sectional championship by six strokes over runnerup Meghan Utterdyke of Fenwick.

“Gabby played solid,” said CM coach Tim McGraw, who noted Woods bogeyed the final four holes to finish 8-over par.

As a team, Clinton-Massie finished fifth, one spot away from the final team qualifying spot. Massie had 438 while the fourth place score was 424.

“What a long afternoon,” McGraw said. “Weather wasn’t the greatest.”

Aside from Woods, Clermont Northeastern will take the final three individual qualifying positions to the district tournament. Massie defeated the Rockets for the SBAAC girls golf title but CNE will send three to the district event.

For Clinton-Massie, Taylor Anderson had 117 (60-57), Pearl Spurlock 127 (69-58), Abby Schneider 124 (65-59) and Luck Payne 117 (57-60).

At Xenia, Benne had a 111 (52-59) score for 18 holes. The final individual qualifying score was a 106.

East Clinton’s Marci Ellis played at WGC as well, posting a 129 (57-72).

At Reid Park North, Blanchester’s Jacob Miller had a 109 (55-54) for the best score among five Wildcats. Brian Miller had a 120 (63-57), Logan Heitzman 139 (73-66), Trenton Czaika 146 (69-77) and Jacob Hamm 124 (62-62). The 14th place finish ends the BHS season.
