ADAMS TOWNSHIP – Clinton-Massie won its 43rd straight conference home game and 14th straight home conference opener by blanking SBAAC American Division foe and previously unbeaten Batavia 49-0 Friday night at Frank M. Irelan Field.

A 63-yard game-opening kickoff return by Carson VanHoose to the Batavia 30 and a Garrett Trampler 32-yard punt return to the Batavia 40 after the Bulldogs’ first drive set up Massie’s first two scores.

Daulton Wolfe capped Massie’s first drive with an 8-yard run and Jake Vaughan capped the other with a 7-yard run.

Wolfe, who had 9 carries for 74 yards in the first half, reached paydirt again late in the second quarter to put the Falcons (5-1) up 21-0.

Wolfe finished the game with 100 yards on 13 carries.

CM made Batavia, which sat one spot ahead of the Falcons in fourth place in the Region 16 standings entering Friday, pay for a 17-yard punt from the Batavia 11 with another score a minute before the intermission. Quarterback Corey Stulz found Griffin Laake in the end zone from 7 yards out to send the Falcons to the lockerroom with a 28-0 cushion.

Batavia fumbled two plays into the opening drive of the second half and Stulz sneaked into the end zone from a yard out four plays later to activate a running clock.

The Falcons also made the Bulldogs pay for a pair of fourth-quarter miscues.

Batavia reached the Massie 14 before fumbling on fourth down. Robby Frederick, No. 33, scored from 33 yards out after that to put Massie up 42-0.

Wolfe scored a play after CM blocked and recovered a punt on the Batavia 5 to set the final margin.
