Heidelberg ends WC volleyball 4-match win streak

TIFFIN – The Wilmington College volleyball team saw its four-match winning streak snapped Saturday as Heidelberg University swept the Fightin’ Quakers 25-3, 25-9, 25-17 in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Heidelberg (14-5, 1-0 OAC) tallied 14 kills in each of the three sets including a blistering .609 hitting clip in the set one victory.

Wilmington (5-13, 0-1 OAC), on the other hand, improved upon a -.222 attack percentage in set one to hit positive in sets two and three. Ultimately, however, the Quakers tallied 17 kills and 18 errors in the match.

Wilmington got six kills on 19 swings and three errors from Jillian Wesco. Karrah Wind also put down four kills for a .231 attack percentage.

Jacie Koontz dished out six assists to lead Wilmington while Karley Schlensker had 14 digs.

Heidelberg also won the serve and pass game, with 13 aces compared to two for Wilmington.

The Quakers continue OAC play at Muskingum University Tuesday.
