Massie outlasts East Clinton in Dig Pink match

LEES CREEK – Clinton-Massie held off East Clinton 27-25, 25-22, 25-18 Monday in a non-league match contested to battle breast cancer.

East Clinton’s Dig Pink match helped raise money to fight breast cancer.

“I am especially proud of the amount of heart displayed in our Dig Pink ceremony,” EC coach Sarah Sodini said. “Hats off to Massie for playing so well and for joining us in the fight against breast cancer.”

For Clinton-Massie, Maddie Enright had an assist and 10 digs. Hayley Roberts finished with four points, an ace, an assist and four digs. Cadin Reveal had seven kills, a dig and four blocks. Tyler Greathouse chipped in with two points, eight kills, two assists and 12 digs. Faith Cottrell had six points, four kills and two digs.

Rylee Richardson contributed 13 points, two aces, six kills, seven digs and three blocks. Taylor Florea had three points, two kills and two digs. Delany Miller was credited with two aces, three points and 10 digs. Hailey Conley put up 11 points, three aces, three kills, 21 assists and two digs.

“Always nice to get out of there in three sets,” CM coach Stephanie Reveal said. “Played a little sloppy and sluggish at times so this was a big win for us. We have a marathon this week with four matches.”

Reveal said Enright played well on defense and “had some key digs at the right time.”

For East Clinton, Kenzie Campbell had an ace, 15 kills, a block, three assists and six digs. Kait Durbin totaled an ace, five kills, a block, three assists and six digs. Kiya Byrd had two blocks and Emma Malone chipped in with an ace and four digs.

Megan Stewart finished with two aces, a block and a kill. Myah Jones had six kills, a block, 11 assists and two digs. Miranda Beener had two digs. Lacey Peterman posted an ace, four kills, a block, 13 assists and eight digs.

“The girls fought so hard,” Sodini added. “It was tough to see them come up short in the first two (sets). We had several service and hitting errors and Massie capitalized on those.”

The high school and middle school volleyball teams participated in the Dig Pink matches on Monday. East Clinton received a donation match promis from All Volleyball for every raised by the event, Sodini said. All proceeds from the event went to The Sideout Foundation. This event was made possible by the EC Athletic Boosters and Alisha Boggs, Sodini said.
