With its offense still struggling, East Clinton welcomes Fayetteville to Lees Creek Friday night for an SBAAC National Division game.
The game is part of East Clinton’s annual Homecoming festivities.
“It’s an exciting time for the kids,” EC coach Jeremy Yankey said. “We have them enjoy as many of the festivities as possible. We still stay on a normal practice week schedule. The only big change is pre-game warm-ups.”
Kickoff is set for 30 minutes later than normal at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
East Clinton is 0-6 and while the defense has struggled as well, the offense is offering no help. The Astros have scored just 34 points this season, with 21 of those coming in the first two weeks.
The Astros have surrendered 271 points this season.
“We continue to struggle to stop the run game of our opponents,” Yankey said. “We did move the ball well ourselves, but committed too many penalties to overcome and keep up with Williamsburg.”
Fayetteville, after a 4-0 start with all wins coming against teams with losing records, has lost two in a row to teams with winning records.
East Clinton won last year’s meeting in Brown County, 32-22.
Both teams are 0-1 in the SBAAC National Division. While Fayetteville is a member of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference for every other sports, the Rockets are members of the SBAAC for football.
