WC women six-game win streak over

ALLIANCE – The Wilmington College women’s soccer team lost its first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) game Saturday night, falling 2-0 at the University of Mount Union.

The loss breaks a six-game winning streak for the Fightin’ Quakers putting them at 8-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in OAC competition. Mount Union improves to 5-5-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the OAC.

The Raiders scored the only goal of the match when Danielle Rohrman hit the back of the net in the 25th minute assisted by Nicole Lanese.

Wilmington out shot the Raiders 5-4 with four shots landing on frame for the Quakers in the first half.

Mount Union sealed the win with a goal by Lauren Beech in the 87th minute as the Quakers were pushing numbers forward in an attempt to tie the game.

Clinton-Massie graduate Leda Moyer had four saves on six shots for the Quakers

Wilmington had the advantage in shots 15-12, shots on goal 6-5 and corner kicks 5-1, but couldn’t break through the Purple Raider defense.

Wilmington will face off against the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears at home Wednesday.
