Shot edge means nothing for WC women in 1-0 loss

MARIETTA – The Wilmington College women’s soccer team outshot Marietta College 29-10, but could not overcome an early goal in a 1-0 loss to the Pioneers in Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.

Kayla Tomlin scored the game’s only goal in the sixth minute, a blast from 15 yards out into the left side netting.

Wilmington put 11 shots on goal over the 90 minutes, but Katie Conkle earned the shutout win making all 11 saves. Leda Moyer took the loss for Wilmington making five saves.

Individually, Alex Vestal took 10 shots with five of them being on net. Taylor Leake and Addison Tiffany both fired four while Hanna Greaney took three shots with two being on goal.

Wilmington (8-5-0, 2-3-0) returns to action at Otterbein University Wednesday.
