BATAVIA – The Blanchester High School girls soccer season ended Tuesday with a 2-0 loss to Batavia in a Div. II sectional tournament match in Clermont County.

Batavia will play at Mariemont 7 p.m. Saturday in the second round of the tournament. Blanchester finishes 6-8-3.

BHS coach Kurt Ballinger said his squad had quality chances for a goal but were unable to convert.

Down 2-0 at halftime, the Ladycats missed a 1v1 scoring opportunity as the shot slid just wide of the goal, Ballinger said.

Emily Hinkle and Savanna Shank applied the offensive pressure and Olivia Gundler, Bri Haun and Sally Schafer played well defensively. Regan Ostermeier had 19 saves in goal for Blanchester.
