Heys, Parks qualify to regional meet for Wilmington

CEDARVILLE – In his bid for a second trip to the state cross country meet, Wilmington’s Simon Heys finished fourth Saturday at the Division I district meet at Cedarville University.

Running at the Elvin R. King CC Course, Heys was fourth out of 184 runners in 16:04.29.

His teammate Tyler Parks was 33rd overall with a personal best time of 16:57.76 and qualified for the regional meet as well.

The top 36 individuals and top nine teams advanced from the district to the regional.

Wilmington was 15th in the team standings.

Also for Wilmington, Ricky Dungan was 103rd in a personal best 18:23.66, Pedro Escobedo 110th in 18:35.46, Tyler Preston 126th in a personal best 19:01.3, Aidan Hester 133rd in 19:21.79 and Cameron Combs 136th in 19:26.16.

On the girls side of things, Wilmington was 14th as a team. The top 32 individuals and top eight teams qualified for the regional.

Sylena Baltazar was 70th with a personal best time of 22:49.81. Sophia Agee also ran a PR of 23:22.47 and placed 83rd. Another PR was posted by Skye Carpenter, who clocked 23:44.82 and was 86th. The final PR for the Lady Hurricane was by Shannon O’Boyle who ran 24:18.28 and placed 95th.

The final three runners for WHS were Jordan Snarr 100th in 24:55.3, Izzy Coomer 113th in 26:34.5 and Libby Walker 125th in 29:30.03.
