WHS puts 3 in top 5 at Edgewood Inv.

TRENTON – Wilmington had three top-five finishers Saturday at the Edgewood Invitational wrestling tournament.

Sam Eastes was the top WHS finisher, placing second at 145 pounds. Eastes was pinned in the title match by Peyton Lane of National Trail.

Brookville won the tournament with 168 points while Miamisburg was runnerup with 126. Colerain, Little Miami, Simon Kenton (Ky.), Greenville, Preble Shawnee, Edgewood, Talawanda, Middletown, Milford, Troy, Anderson and Madison followed. Kings, Franklin, Tri-County North and Oak Hills finished just ahead of Wilmington.

Other teams in the tournament were Hamilton, National Trail, Piqua, Dixie, Carlisle, Twin Valley South, Turpin and Dayton Christian.

Wilmington’s Donovan Butler was fifth at 126 pounds, defeating Justin Ritchie of Carlisle 2-0 in his final match. Dominic Davidson was fifth at 138 pounds.

Also participating in the tournament for WHS were Lee Lynch, Alex Hudson (one victory), Trent Holliday (one victory), Kile Holland (one victory), Cannon Ford (two wins), Jayden Doyle and Truestin Barnes (one win).
