Wildcats escape with 56-40 win over Tigers

BLANCHESTER – The Blanchester High School boys basketball team defeated Bethel-Tate 56-40 in SBAAC National Division play Friday night at the BHS gym.

The Wildcats led the visiting Tigers 4-2 after one period.

The Blanchester scoring picked up in the second but the Bethel-Tate offense did not. The ‘Cats were on top 19-4 at halftime.

It was 34-17 after three periods.

“It wasn’t as pretty as we planned it, but you know what they say, ‘A win is a win,’” BHS head coach Adam Weber said.

Brayden Sipple had 26 points to top all scorers. He also converted 11 of 12 free throw attempts.

Hunter Bare had seven points, five rebounds and four blocked shots.

Jay Ashcraft grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds, seven of which were offensive. Tanner Creager scored 11 points for the ‘Cats and came up with three steals. Ian Heeg led BHS with three assists.
