A trio of Wilmington High School wrestlers finished first in their respective weight classes Saturday at the Wilmington High School reserve wrestling tournament at the middle school gym.

Cameron Smart, Doug Eastes and Preston Kessler won their weight classes for Wilmington.

Smart won at 106 and coach Kelly Tolliver said, “He is a great addition to our lineup. We are excited to see what this season will bring for him.”

Eastes won at 170 pounds and Kessler took the 182-pound title. “Preston is a newcomer,” said Tolliver. “He looked great on takedowns and is progressing nicely.”

Gage Smith was runnerup at 220 pounds. Another newcomer, Tolliver said Smith does well on his feet and is now starting to put together good combinations.

Brady Bergefurd was third at 182 pounds and Trent Holliday was fourth at 132 pounds. Holliday is a freshman and Tolliver said he is still working on his offensive skills.

The tournament was scored as an individual event and not a team event, Tolliver said.
