Blan JH boys split openers

The Blanchester Junior High School boys basketball teams split games with Amelia Monday afternoon.

The seventh grade was victorious 26-23.

Brayden Sipple led the young Wildcats with 13 points and 10 rebounds. He also was the team leader in steals, assists and blocked shots, coach Tom Greve said.

Brody Rice had 11 points and 12 rebounds as Blanchester opened the season with a win. Brian Miller scored 2 points for BJHS. Logan Heitzman had 4 rebounds and Trenton Czaika had 3 rebounds.

The eighth grade Wildcats lost a 34-23 contest.

Tanner Creager had 12 points and 3 steals for Blanchester. Hunter Bare had 4 points.

Cameron Skidmore, Jay Ashcraft and Kaleb Goodin had 2 points each for the Wildcats. Avin Whitaker connected on a free throw. Ashcraft and Goodin shared team-high honors with 5 rebounds each. Goodin also blocked 4 shots.
